In a victory that has stunned everyone outside the constituency, Dr Jean Turner has won the Strathkelvin and Bearsden seat fighting solely to save Stobhill hospital near Glasgow. The campaign to save Stobhill has attracted support
from almost all parties, trade unions and local people.
Jean Turner has worked hard and polled 10980 against her closest rival had 10550.

This election gives one clear message from the electorate: "You ignore us at your peril".
The planned changes to Stobhill and other hospitals have been rejected and there is no democratic mandate for the Scottish Executive's plans to remove of services from Stobhill and other Glasgow hospitals.
